Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when you see a financial planner?

During our first meeting, we will find out what your goals and dreams are. We will take the time to understand your situation, listen to your ideas and share some initial thoughts with you, which may form the basis of future recommendations. We will identify what gaps there are between where you are today and what you want to achieve.

At the first meeting you will also have the opportunity to evaluate our style, expertise and way of working with you. You will notice the difference at Blue Edge in the depth of the questions we ask. Once we prioritise what you wish to accomplish, we will make suggestions on how you may be able to achieve your goals.

During our second meeting, you decide how you wish to proceed. There will be a lot of education/explanation/”what-if” discussions at this meeting. We will discuss our fees during this meeting so that you are making an educated decision. Then, we begin the paperwork to take the plan from idea to reality. We will draft a financial plan (Statement of Advice) for you. The financial plan is the blue print that you follow to work towards achieving your goals and objectives.

Once you are happy with your financial plan, the process is one of taking care all paperwork gets completed so that your plan is properly implemented. We review the progress of your plan; report back to you on how your investments are doing, meet with you regularly to make sure your plan is still on target. We communicate by phone calls, in writing, by e-mail and fax, depending on what works best for you.   We are always available as the circumstances in your life change.
